What is Performance Testing?
The American Kennel Club offers a number of performance tests for dogs. These include obedience, agility, tracking, herding, hunting and earthdog, to name some of them. Australian terriers are capable of doing well in several of these events. Performance events test intelligence, instinct, soundness and trainability, and are useful in weeding out dogs whose temperaments or conformation impede them from performing the jobs they were developed to do.
